Guitar Player: “A Trio of Delights”

November 8th, 2007

Guitar Player Magazine wrote a great piece on Campbell American guitars. Check it out here.

“The Campbell trio is superbly constructed, and each instrument plays like butter. The slim, satin-finished maple necks—and flat 12.5” radius—should coax fluent and rowdy runs from jazzbos, rockers, pickers, and shredders alike. I found the necks to be so thin and smooth that they’re almost tactilely “invisible.” There’s just enough grip to pummel punk chords without feeling as if you’re punching air, and yet the wisp of a board has an almost magical ability to inspire speedy solo barrages, effortless chordal excursions, and 17-ton riffs … “

Shaun Wolf Wortis’ new Caledonian unveiled

August 12th, 2007

Wortis with new Caledonian

Decked out in a Napoleon costume, and flanked by a nine-piece band, Shaun Wolf Wortis debuted his new custom Caledonian for his annual Bastille Day A-Go-Go at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Mass, on July 21. The instrument is a magnificent gold, custom painted with red and white piping to mimic a 1947 S.S. Stewart archtop in Wortis’ collection. Gold hardware - including Bigsby and Duncan Jazz humbuckers.

“This is truly an extraordinary instrument”, Wortis says, “It’s not often that one has a guitar which everyone in the room instantly notices for its cool looks; and then immediately comments on how incredible it sounds. I mean, even the sound guys were talking about it”

“My band guys — some of whom I’ve played with for years — were saying I seem to play at my best with this guitar.”
